Hope House Infant Formula Program

Praise God for babies being sent in time. Several hospitals as much as 50 miles away from HH has heard that we provide formula for babies in need and have sent babies to us. A hospital about 30 miles from us sent this sweet boy along with a letter in December asking if we could provide formula for him. His names is Precious, born September 18. This part of the ministry is growing rapidly as more hospitals hear that we are doing our best to have supplies on hand. The current cost is $30 a month for 4 cans of formula but Austin has told us the price is going up. We cannot turn any baby away knowing this is a matter of life or death. Some mothers have passed shortly after birth and other mothers cannot feed for various reasons. We are trusting God to provide no matter how many are sent to us. We know in the past some families were sent home from the hospital and the babies given sugar water until they passed because the parents could not provide anything else. We had grown to 19 babies receiving formula in a very short time, now in May we have 16, 2 have graduated from the program and 1 has been sent to an orphanage in Lilongwe.

The guardians of these precious babies are so very grateful for the milk received to help these babies until they can eat soft food. Thank you donors for your help.

Psalms 127:3-5

“Children are a gift from the Lord.”

The Bible portrays children including babies, as precious gifts from God, emphasizing their innocence and the importance of nurturing them.

Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you”

Emphasizes God’s foreknowledge and personal care for each baby before they were born.

Thank you Donors

We have 262 children and 63 of these children have faithful sponsors. We appreciate our sponsors so very much. Thank you! Donors that are not sponsors we are so grateful you give whether it is a one time designated amount or undesignated to help us anytime. Thank you so much. Zikomo! We would like to also acknowledge the churches that give to Hope House. Cross Cut Cowboy Church has helped build houses in Malawi and helped with the baby formula. New Beginnings Church and Highway Baptist Church help us with anything that is needed. Faith Christian Outreach Church sponsors a number of children.

We want to let you all know how grateful we are for the help you give. I often say ‘thank you for helping us help them’ and it is so true. The help you all give is helping a child, an infant or elderly in the needs they have daily. The employees are always grateful with the salaries they get. We have an outstanding group of employees that work daily providing food, trips to hospitals, sewing clothes, guards every night, the leadership keeping things run smoothly. Your donation is doing more than you can imagine every day in Malawi. Again, thank you so very much!

New Child in April

Meet Chifundo, a sweet little girl that has started coming to HH1 this past April. She is the third born in a family of 4 children. One has died and one moved to go to secondary school. This has left her living with what is called a ‘child headed family’, her sister is 15 and is taking care of the household. Their mother died and the father remarried and moved away.

We are happy to have Chifundo coming to Hope House. This little girl has had some very hard and sad times in her short 11 year life.

Living in a country that is the 3rd poorest country in the world we in the USA cannot imagine the days and nights these children have gone without food.

Community Bridge

During the rainy season the river flooded and washed out much of HH garden and made it very difficult for children coming from school to HH. The community came together to built this bridge so children and other neighbors could safely get

across. This direction going into town is the hospital and schools saves walking 2 miles to go the other way to cross the river. When it is pouring down rain an extra 2 miles of walking is especially difficult.

"Let the little children come to me' Jesus welcomes children emphasizing that they are valued and a part of God's Kingdom.” Mathew 19:14

Hope House Orphan Care to Celebrate 20 years in Malawi

It has been 20 years since Hope House began. When we visited Malawi in 2005 we never imagined what God was going to do at Hope House. We started in a rented house with 51 children coming to eat for lunch. We are privileged and honored to have been a part of what He has done. We hope to be able to go to Malawi for a 20 year celebration if possible this later this year.

We hope with the Lord’s guidance we can visit as many of the children's homes as possible to see the condition and needs they may have. We know that it will be impossible to visit 262 children's homes but with your prayers we may see the ones with the greatest needs.

We want to bring encouragement to the staff. They do such a great job and sacrifice a lot to take care for the needs of the children, elderly and babies. When I think of the miles some of them walk each morning and evening just to come to work I'm truly thankful for their commitment. We have 24 dedicated employees that keep things going.

We have had laughter and sadness, up and down times, financial hardship and times of plenty. God has always been there to see Hope House through everything even when things seemed impossible. Because He continues to show us nothing is impossible if we trust Him. It is our privilege and joy to work with Hope House.

Thank you for being a part of Hope House Orphan Care.

Christmas 2024

The Hope House children and employees had a very good Christmas. The three centers met together at HH1 location for a special day. Each child received a shirt and a skirt or shorts, a cup with Hope House logo full of candy, plus a bag of snacks to take home.

A local DJ brought his music and as always the afternoon was full of singing and dancing.

Those that had the best attendance, entertainer of the year, and most willing helper received a gift to tell them thank you. Also, the employee in each department that did outstanding work in the year received a gift basket.

The day to celebrate Jesus birth was enjoyed by all.

We invite you to sponsor a child for $30 a month or donate any amount you feel led to. We also have 13 elderly and 15 infants receiving baby formula. We welcome you to join us.

Meet Vincent Chidakwa

Vincent started coming to Hope House 1 in 2009 when he was 11 years old. He always was a obedient child and joy to have at Hope House. When we had the HHOME program he learned how to be a barber, which provided for him after he graduated from secondary school. Vincent has now finished primary school college, graduating this spring. We know he will be a very good primary school teacher.

Vincent came to Austin, when he came home to Dowa after his graduation and told him he would like to give haircuts to all the children at all 3 locations. He wanted to say thank you Hope House for all it has done for him. Below we have some pictures for you to enjoy of him and the children’s haircuts.

We are so incredibly proud of Vincent and what he has accomplished. When we have success stories like Vincent we want to share them with everyone.

Hope House is making a difference with not only nourishing the children with food and teaching them God’s Word but giving them encouragement to go forward.

Great job Vincent!
